They called me Little Tittel.
We were a band of brothers more interested in becoming the next Cru Jones than the starting quarterback. (If you haven’t seen RAD, you are missing out.) BMX was our jam, despite living in a rural town where the closest track was over 200 miles away. That didn’t stop us. We spent our days building trails and having two-wheeled fun, convinced we were cool. I was quick to offer myself as the group guinea pig. Giving it everything I had, I’d launched myself off our homemade jumps into oblivion. Things rarely went as planned. But I gave er’ heck.
Since day one I’ve been going “90-to-nothing” as my dad would say, chasing whatever crazy dream I had with everything in me. When others went left, I would always go right. Fiercely independent, I was hell bent on carving my own path. Where there is a will there is a way. That spirit has defined my entire life.
College lasted less than 2 years before I dropped out to find a different way.
I married the woman of my dreams after only a few months of long-distance dating. (We’ve now been married 14 years.)
We’ve chosen a simple life in a small town instead of the hustle and bustle of big city living. We homeschool our four kiddos and being an engaged dad and a loving husband means more to me than any career opportunity. I don’t apologize for that.
Twenty years in the biz has taught me that building relationships and doing business with integrity trump profit and ego. The best projects are those with collaboration and mutual respect. I work hard for my clients and have a ton of fun while doing it. No apologies there either.
More often than not I’ve forged my own path in life and business. I’ve surprised myself. And I’m pretty sure I’ve surprised others too. So if you have a project, let’s chat, and by all means, let’s give ‘er heck together.
